Sputum suction patients use a single-use Suction Swab to directly connect the
suction tube for backup. It is practical, saves time and effort, and avoids the
harm of the disinfectant to the human body to a certain extent. So, how to clean
and disinfect disposable suction tube?
Suction Foam Swab
Single-use sputum suction tubes are used to extract sputum or secretions from trachea in clinical patients. The suction action of the disposable suction tube should be light and stable. The suction time of one sputum should not exceed 15 seconds, and the continuous use of the suction device should not exceed 3 minutes.
Single-use suction tube operation method:
(1) Check whether the connection of all parts of the suction device is complete and whether there is air leakage. Turn on the power, turn on the switch, check the performance of the attractor, and adjust the negative pressure. Generally, the negative pressure of sputum suction in adults is about 40-50 kPa, and sputum suction in children is about 13-30 kPa. Disposable sputum suction tubes are placed in water to test the attractiveness, and the leather tubes are rinsed.
(2) Turn the patient's head to the nurse and spread a treatment towel under the jaw.
(3) Insert the disposable sputum suction tube in the order of oral vestibule → buccal → pharynx, sucking all parts. If it is difficult to suck sputum in the oral cavity, it can be inserted through the nasal cavity (disabled in patients with skull base fractures). The sequence is from the vestibule of the nasal cavity → the lower nasal passage → the posterior nasal cavity → the pharynx → the trachea (approximately 20-25cm). Exhausted. If there is a tracheal intubation or tracheotomy, it can be inserted through the intubation or cannula to suck out the sputum. A comatose patient can open his mouth with a tongue depressor or an opener, and then attract.
(4) Aspiration of sputum in the trachea. When the patient is inhaling, quickly insert the catheter, and turn the catheter from the bottom to the top to remove the airway secretions, and pay attention to the patient's breathing. During the suction process, if the patient coughs badly, wait for a while before sucking out. Rinse the suction tube at any time to avoid clogging of sputum.
(5) After suctioning, turn off the suction switch, discard the suction tube in a small bucket, insert the suction hose glass joint into the bed rail containing the disinfectant solution bottle for later use, and wipe around the patient's mouth. Observe the amount, color, and nature of the aspirated solution and make a record if necessary.
The single-use sputum suction tube is a sterile product and is sterilized by ethylene oxide. The sterilization period is 2 years. Only one-time use, destroy after use, and prohibit repeated use. Therefore, disposable suction tubes do not require patients to clean and disinfect themselves.
